Albers Distortion Exercises 1

The reference to Albers is relevant and tangential. This short group of paintings that use the canvas as an armature for color study travel in the lanes of others; Albers, Rothko, Halley. Everything in this series is an exercise, a remembering, and re-engagement with instincts around color relationships, the weight, balance, and luminance of colors and how they affect one another, and when color forces the hand of composition into something else.
