SKU-Leopard-1-64

One for the Containment series of works, this whimsical, neon-colored piece of pop is a product of reflections on our digitally colonized existences. The Amazon River becomes an e-commerce store, the Patagonia mountains become an expensive clothing line, and exotic animals are also digitized, translated from flesh and blood, and fragmented into reified pixels. What looks like a friendly piece of kitsch carries the burden of our collectivized guilt.

This medium-sized oil painting on canvas is a cynical depiction of the digitization of biological life, this time a leopard. It’s a serious topic depicted with the whimsy we now bring to all disturbing events in society and the world. The painting is still drying on the 9th of March, 2024.
