Psychological confinement is a way of life. Behind the bars, contained and constrained in the game cage, in the safety of knowing is our playground. All activities take place under the borders of our existences. Limitation becomes the home base of now and future manifestation.

This cultivated space garden is dislodged from gravity. It’s in the midst of finding its place, its order. Free from any ground, objects in space follow different organizational patterns. Velocity, entropy, large bodies.
Objects in space are nascent versions of things already familiar to us, but they haven’t been formed yet.
These are like ghosts of things to come, rather than ghosts of what has already been.
Sometimes a certain shape evokes a certain color and before you know it you’re sliding down the slippery slope of one of your favorite junk foods. This one to me is looking kind of like that. A little pop art, but ultimately, pattern, line, color, shape.
Palette cleansers. Purely practical affairs, reflecting the binaries of process, this type of painting is the by-product of other works; when I search for the right color and end up with more than I anticipated, I’m afforded a chance to be less precious, loosen up and paint with even less regard for the subject than usual. These are purely about paint and gesture, spontaneity, and immediacy.
Really an exploration of color with a grandiose name, but it is that! When I paint, it’s like the growth of nodes on a plant, for any painting that starts without an armature. Interference patterns in this painting seek to break up the organic process of growth.
Something from a dream, a geometric martian landscape falling into the distance, becoming paper airplanes, spaceships, and taking flight into a mysterious glowing universe. Simply a playful exploration of an idea.
